About Our Company
Galapagos is a cruise operator in the Galapagos Islands that offers tourist services aboard one of the most reliable cruise fleets, covering the luxury, first class and tourist superior categories. The company’s history began more than 10 years ago, with the vision of an entrepreneurial couple from the Galapagos Islands who had the goal of starting a company that offers daily navigation services between the islands.
“One of the most important assets of the company is that is under 100% Galapagueño management”
Over the years, the company grew rapidly thanks to its excellent performance, with a focus on exceptional customer service, offering different itineraries and activities for its guests onboard. Now, the company proudly owns a complete fleet of vessels, including 2 catamarans.
Your Best Galapagos Business Partner
The company has focused on several axes for its corporate growth based on the philosophy of maintaining a profitable business and at the same time promoting best sustainable tourism practices in the islands. As Galapagueños, community support becomes even more significant; at the moment the company is part of social projects that focus on promoting the well-being of the population of the archipelago. The update of technological knowledge is a fundamental factor for the corporation, which is why Galapagos has invested in training and updating its personnel and vessels with the latest trends worldwide in this area.
Our Exceptional Fleet
M/C Alya is a catamaran that, due to its characteristics in this class of boats, offers excellent stability, with its 16 guests hardly feeling movement at sea. Currently, the cruise is undergoing planned maintenance at the dry dock, returning to the Galapagos the second week of December 2019.
As the cruise owners and direct operators, the ship will be managed by Galapagos starting in February 2020.

M/C Alya

M/C Ecogalaxy is another catamaran with a capacity of 16 guests, with the main feature of being conceived and built under ecological parameters, using materials that have a lower environmental impact when sailing, including: built with 50% less wood, 2 generators that are used depending on the navigation needs for saving on fuel, 100% biodegradable materials, reduced use of plastic, and waste management that includes recycling, depending on the process. These are some examples of how resources are optimized on this catamaran, and some of these initiatives have been replicated across the rest of the fleet of ships.
Based on these strict and high ecological responsibility standards, the 3 vessels have been awarded and received Smart Planet certificates, which is an international recognition given to vessels that comply with these types of ecological regulations. The last planned dry dock maintenance to this vessel took place in October 2019.

M/Y Galaxy, this boat was the first acquisition of the company; its last planned dry dock maintenance took place in September 2019, in another words, the boat is 100% refurnished. This boat, like the others, has a capacity of 16 passengers, offering the most adventurous itineraries for guests. This boat has multiple cabins that can be converted between matrimonial and twin.

M/Y Bonita, this is the latest acquisition of the company. The vessel formerly known as M / Y Eric has been acquired to diversify the corporation’s offer within the highest level of the tourist superior class, providing a fresh concept for those who prefer an adventurous experience with the same quality of service that the company is known for. This boat is currently undergoing a complete workover in the shipyards of Guayaquil, and its maiden departure is scheduled for February 2020.

Cruiseline highlights

The Galapagos Islands are probably the most famous wildlife-watching destination in the world.  it’s almost impossible to exaggerate the complete spectacle of the place that provided inspiration for Charles Darwin’s creating the theory of natural evolution. This isolated group of volcanic islands and its fragile ecosystem has taken on almost-mythological status as a showcase of biodiversity. Visitors to this unique place don’t need to be an evolutionary biologist to appreciate one of the few places left on the planet where the human footprint is kept to lowest.

The Galapagos Islands are developed on the basis of volcanic eruptions that have been occurring for centuries and are constantly occurring these days. The whole place is the result of volcanic activity. Landscapes made of lava and a combination of fire and water create tunnels and lava flows, considered as strange landscapes.

The constant volcanic activity has an impact on the ecosystem consequently allows species to be constantly born and evolve. The Galapagos Islands are the place where scientist Charles Darwin gets inspired by his theory on the evolution of species. The theory is based on the characteristics that some finches and animals show in contrast from the islands; In the islands, the species adapt to the ecosystem by changing parts of their bodies; Also adapt their capacities to survive in the environment.

The Islands are part of the Galapagos National Park and have a lot of restrictions to preserve the ecosystem. For that reason, knowing and finding the species could be a very difficult goal to achieve if it is not done properly. If you want to know more species and discover hidden places, the best way to do it is through an unique cruise experience.

Many of the species that travelers can see at the archipelago are endemic, this means that these animals can be seen only in this part of the planet and nowhere else. The top 10 Galapagos species that you can find in the archipelago are:

Blue footed boobies, Galapagos Finches, giant Tortoises, marine Iguanas, Manra Rays, Sally Lightfoot Crab, Seal Lions, Sea Turtles, Whale Sharks, Galapagos Penguins.
